A hydronic radiant floor heats surfaces using water run through pipes inside the surface. Conventional radiators are not the same thing as a hydronic radiant floor heat system in that radiators use heated water to warm the air and consequently warm a space using convection currents. With radiant heat, surfaces are warmed and that heat travels through radiation, making a more ergo dynamic heating system designed to keep the body comfortable in a more optimal fashion.
Hydronic radiant floor heat does not heat the air. It heats objects and people that cross into its zone of heating. There is less loss of body heat to cold surfaces and a more reliable method of providing heat in that the heated air is no longer stratified. Instead, there is a consistent level of heat.
