PEX tubes are flexible, resistant to scale and chlorine, doesn't corrode or develop pinholes, is faster to install than metal or rigid plastic, and has fewer connections and fittings. All PEX Tubing sold at Pexheat.com goes through thorough testing before shipping. Some of our manufactures also provide "replacement" warranties if the product should fail after installation. You can feel confident using PEX tube in your next radiant floor or domestic water system installation.

PEX Tubing for Radiant Floor Heat

Radiant floor heating has been used for centuries. However, the reason for the decline of the use of radiant floor heating in homes and other dwellings in the 1900's was because many floor heating systems that were installed in the using copper tubing or steel pipe. These floor heating systems failed due to metal fatigue or chemical incompatibilities with concrete. The leaks were often difficult or impossible to find and correct. However, PEX tubing changed all this. During the 60s, researchers in Europe discovered the new polymer material called cross-linked polyethylene, or "PEX" for short. Nothing compares to the comfort and warmth of a radiant heat system in your home and hydronic floor heating systems using tubing are the most affordable easiest to install. PEX radiant floor systems heat the room by passing hot water through PEX tubes which are installed in the concrete slab, attached under the floor or installed in sleepers above the floor. Radiant heat PEX Tubing is created to high ASTM standards and usually performs 2 to 3 times the ASTM temperature/burst pressure ratings printed on the tubing and are capable of withstanding the significant temperature changes a floor heating system requires.
